EPL promotion/relegation rules (Basic introduction)

Each year, the bottom three teams are relegated and replaced by teams from the second tier of English soccer (the Championship, this year Man City won it), while the top two teams from the second tier advance directly to the Premier League, and the next four teams in line will compete in a playoff, with the winner gaining the third spot in the Premier League.

Real Example:

Liverpool, Power Analysis

Meanwhile at Liverpool, Jürgen Klopp (The Coach) is not in a happy mood. He was highly critical of his team after Saturday's 4-1 loss to Manchester City. He was perplexed by the fact that the Reds played well in the first half, but completely collapsed after the break. That defeat was their ninth in the Premier League this season and they have now conceded 33 goals. By comparison, they conceded only 26 goals in the last Premier League season.


The away performance this season has been very disappointing, with only three wins in 14 games (3/14). Last season they won 13 games on the road and lost only 2. The opposite games ended in goalless draws.

9 of Chelsea's last 10 home games have seen less than 2.5 goals scored.

Chelsea have failed to score in 4 of their last 7 EPL home games.


Match Prediction

Both teams face the same problem in this game, they may not qualify for European competition next season. Chelsea are not even in the top half of the Premier League and would face relegation trouble if not for a decent start to the season.


Liverpool has been hot and cold, and City fans will want to know how they managed to get 7 points on United. Our prediction for Chelsea v Liverpool is under 2.5 goals scored.


The final result was 0:0, with a total of 0 goals scored. Perfectly in line with the analysis that said under 2.5 goals scored, showing that the prediction is roughly/generally correct.
