5/12 Birthday Blog

 TODAY IS MY BIRTHDAY!!!!!

Still severe symptoms today (Throat sore, cold etc...) Birthday isn't my lucky day😰

One
thing to keep in mind is that even if the difference in odds you find gives you a boost of confidence, you are still unlikely to profit from soccer betting in the long term if the bookies are more accurate than you are.

Of course, betting companies are not robots, and as long as they are human they will make mistakes. e let these mistakes often lead to unimaginably large losses. Next, I will list five of the biggest losses Pinnacle has experienced.

5. South Korea vs. Algeria - FIFA World Cup 2014

Algeria's win over South Korea during the 2014 FIFA World Cup is prominent on this list, as some may feel that there won't be many people betting on this match. However, we must remember that those who make money from betting don't necessarily bet on the hottest matches. They will go out and bet when they believe that the odds do not reflect the true probability of the event happening.

The earliest odds for this match were set before the World Cup began - the handicap favorite was South Korea at 2.28, with Algeria at 3.66 and a draw at 3.24. After the first round of matches (Algeria lost 2-1 to Belgium and South Korea drew 1-1 with Russia), the odds were virtually unchanged (The odds for the two teams at the start of the match are still very similar to those initially set).

Even the most accurate bookies in the world can falter on a particular match, but bettors should remember that it's long-term success that matters, not just one-time betting victories.

A storm of goals between the 26th and 38th minutes of the match gave Algeria a three-goal lead. Son recovered a goal for South Korea, while Brahimi followed up with another for Algeria. With only 15 minutes left in the game, a goal by Goo Jee-chul made it 4-2, but unfortunately, it was too irrelevant and too late for South Korea.

In the end Pinnacle suffered a total loss in the markets opened for this match - bets on Algeria won in the 1X2 and handicap results, and the total goals over/under market was known to result in an over/under win before the half-time break. All in all, the result of this match resulted in Pinnacle taking a whopping seven-figure loss.

4. Spain vs. Netherlands - FIFA World Cup 2014

In the 1970s and 1980s, the Netherlands were a World Cup powerhouse. Although they have lost their glory in recent years, beating Spain would not have been too surprising. However, no one expected them to pull off a devastating 5-1 win in their opening Group B match at the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

I was ten years old and watched the game with my parents, and I'll never forget Robin van Persie's superhuman header.

The odds were initially set at 2.06 for Spain and 3.39 for the Netherlands (4.09 for a draw). These figures show that the handicappers at Pinnacle think Spain should win the match. The Total Goals Over/Under market was set at 2 before the match. This also shows that the betting market seems to think that this match is more likely to end in a low score.

Pinncale's faith in Spain was first rewarded when Javi Alonso scored a penalty for Vincent del Bosque's Spain to make it 1-0 in the 27th minute, after which the Spanish defense collapsed (and Pinnacle's hopes of a profit were dashed) and the Dutch scored four goals in 25 and a half minutes. And Arjen Robben's fifth and final goal in the 80th minute sent Pinnacle into the abyss.

A win for the Netherlands was no longer a good result for Pinnacle, and with the handicap bets and all the customers who bet on "more than 2 goals" to win at 1.813 odds, the most accurate bookmaker in the world suffered another seven-figure loss on that day.

3. Belgium vs. England - FIFA World Cup 2018

Given that the two biggest losses suffered by Pinnacle above both occurred in 2014, you might take it for granted that our bookmaker will not suffer such catastrophic losses again. Customers will be happy to know that this is not the case. During this year's World Cup, Pinnacle suffered the third largest loss ever in a single event.

People are often quick to forget the World Cup quarterfinals, but Pinnacle will never forget Belgium's hasty 2-0 victory over England. The two teams played an inconsequential game in Group G two weeks ago (Belgium won 1-0), and many predicted a much tighter playoff. The initial odds for Belgium as favorites were 2.23, England at 3.35 and a draw at 3.66. We set a fairly high goal total - 3 goals.

Many bettors quickly went out and bet on these odds. Near the start of the tournament, Belgium's odds were lowered and the total goals scored dropped to 2.75. Belgium ended up being the third place finisher in the World Cup, and while England should be proud of their achievement as well, however nothing could soften the blow of the huge parlay loss sent by Pinnacle.

2. France vs. Switzerland - Euro 2016

After taking home the Hercules Cup in the 1998 World Cup as hosts, France should be full of confidence as Euro 2016 hosts (they were 4.17 odds to win the UEFA Euros before it opened). After two wins in their opening group games (2-1 against Romania and 2-0 against Albania), France looks well positioned to win the title.

All of the tournaments listed in this list are big favorites with extremely wide audiences, but it does seem easier to beat the bookies in more niche markets when you have knowledgeable or valuable information.

France meets Switzerland in the final round of their group, and both teams can advance to the round of 16 with a draw. The hosts are the favorites in this match (odds of 1.633), with the opponents at 5.95 (draw odds of 4.01). Despite some dangers, Pinnacle still has the total goals scored over/under at 2.5, with the slightly favored underdog at 1.926 and the overdog at 1.952.

It looks like a draw will not only benefit France and Switzerland, but also benefit PINGBO customers. Bettors who bet on a goal total of less than 2.5 also had reason to celebrate - France's Paul Pogba and Dimitri Payet hit their opponents' goalposts, and Switzerland failed to score in the match, which ended with zero goals.

Although the match was boring, the spectacle was very colorful for the bettors, most of whom were able to celebrate their betting victory when the final whistle blew. On the other hand, there was no celebration on the side of Pinnacle, as one match led to a huge reduction in our Euro profits.

1. Italy vs. Spain - UEFA Euro 2016

Just like a repeat of the Euro 2012 final, Italy met Spain again in the last 16 stage of Euro 2016. As in that previous match between the two teams at Euro 2012, Spain is initially priced at 2.19 as the favorite and Italy is priced at 4.21 as the winning cooler (3.06 for a draw). Not too many goals were expected to be scored in the match, so the total goals over/under was set at 2 and the under was priced at 1.725.

After four years, Antonio Conte's team managed to make a clean break, as Giorgio Chiellini scored the first goal of the match in the 33rd minute, followed by Graziano Pelle's second goal in extra time. Despite dominating the field and creating plenty of scoring chances, Spain was unable to break through Italy's ironclad defense and save Pinnacle from a huge loss.

Past performances and results may have led many to believe that victory was in the bag for Spain, but a disciplined Italian team made it all go down in flames. The fact that the match was the biggest loss in Pinnacle's history shows that not only did Pinnacle get the odds wrong, but many of its clients were keen to spot the error and take advantage of it in time(Not me).

Pinnacle still shudders thinking about the game and the money that continued to be lost every second before the final whistle blew. To this day, despite being over two years old, the Italy-Spain match at Euro 2016 remains the biggest loss we have ever suffered.

This reminds me world cup 2022, that Argentina lose to Saudi Arabia...
